Two things struck me in this article: 1) I am a technologist and I am excited about automation, integration and the future of tech. Yet even I would not want to live in a world this conjours to the mind and, 2) Many developing countries struggle with reliable or any electricity let alone connectivity, so the lack of fossil fueled power combined with the global catastrophe ahead for these countries being plunged into further economic poverty would ask all of us - are we signing our own death warrant with the excitement of our western world new toys?
Is this a long term vision that we should stop and think about?
From recent reports, it may seem like automation only affects those in developed countries. But a report from the UN Conference on Trade and Development says that it might also affect those in developing countries, likely, even more so.
